Caprima Boers strives to blend newly imported bloodlines with the best of NZ stock to produce stock with a genetic base that has the best of both worlds – new improved bloodlines that perform with durability in New Zealand conditions. It has foundation stock proven to perform in New Zealand drystock farming with new imported bloodlines provided by NZ Boers.
A fast early growth rate that rapidly achieves good carcass weights is the objective of the breeding programme. The integration of the goats into normal beef farming management is considered by us to be where Boer goats will achieve their optimum growth and profitability so this is the environment the animals are raised in, performance measured, and selection made for breeding.

Caprima Boers is able to offer:-
Limited numbers of mixed aged breeding stock -
Kid and Yearling bucks and nannies -
Both stud and commercial quality and pricing -
Supply to both New Zealand and overseas purchasers. - We started farming goats as a method to control the various ‘weeds’ that are a regular occurrence on farms such as ours that have been consistently and totally grazed by cattle. Goats were seen as an option to either spraying or mechanical topping to control weeds. We have found that even with our increase in goat numbers our cattle numbers have not had to decrease as the goats and cattle complement each other in their grazing requirements and behaviour.

The goats have provided an effective management tool to both suppress weeds and manage grass growth. Their browsing behaviour controls a variety of weeds as well as ‘topping’ grass to provide pasture of good quality for cattle. Goats can be used effectively and to mutual benefit before, during, or after grazing by cattle especially when the goats are grazed about one to two per acre and rotated regularly.
